The Federal Ministry for Development and Cooperation has been supporting various of our projects in rural Ethiopia since 2016: from mental health care and psychosocial support for war-affected women and girls to improving livelihoods in water catchment areas, integrated management of forest resources and sustainable improvement of the population’s livelihoods to the creation of sustainable economic prospects for young people and small farmers.

Current project

Mental health care and psychosocial support for war-affected women and girls in North Wollo

Duration: 01.09.2023 to 31.12.2025

Wars do not only leave physical scars, but also cause immense psychological damage to the victims. Women in particular are at high risk of becoming victims of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) in conflicts. 53% of women in the conflict zone of North Wollo in northern Ethiopia report that they have experienced forms of sexual and gender-based violence during political conflicts. The aim of the project is to support precisely these women and girls and their communities.
